I won’t repeat the full history lesson here, as several Boundless authors have already discussed it Joshua Rogers most recently, in his excellent piece ” Your Friendgirl Deserves Better “. Essentially, the historical reality is that until 30 or 40 years ago, long, intimate friendships between men and women in which each served as the other’s emotional confidante, relationship adviser and “best buddy” were far less common than they are today.

I believe that God pairs us up with people that complement the gifts, talents, and personalities that He has given us — if we let Him. I have found this to be true in my own life.
The guys I dated before I began dating my husband were not all bad guys. In fact, most of them had many good qualities. We genuinely cared about each other and had fun together. In other relationships, I began to think that some of the things I had wanted in a husband were perhaps more wishful thinking than things that could actually be.

Old age, maybe, but not christianity. Christians are people, and we do people stuff, like flirting and having feelings. If a christian has convinced themselves that they are above humanity, then I think there could possibly be some problems there, both theological and psychological, that probably need working on. Hmm well my experience is different, though I agree with you on the point of not convincing one’s self of being above humanity. I meant it as far as the opposite well, sort of.
I was thinking in regards to having a strong enough faith to resist certain temptation while spreading the Gospel in certain types of places or crowds, which again I think “might” depend in combination with someone’s personal weaknesses. Like for example, I’m not sure how I would handle it trying to spread the Gospel through friendship with a group of heavy pot smokers, because I used to smoke a LOT of weed years ago and it was really hard for me to quit, weed is probably still a big temptation of mine, so I’m not sure that it would be a good idea for me at this point new disciple of Christ, very new.
But your post also made me suddenly think of another set of verses I had read recently, in Mark You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
